Veerapandi Sri Gowmariamman Temple



Gowmariamman Temple which is located here attracts many pilgrims. This 14th century temple was built by the Pandya King Veerapandi.The Pandya Kind is said to have regained his vision by praying to Govmariyamman and Kanneeswaramudaiyar. Veerapandi Sri Gowmari amman temple and Sri Kanneeswara Mudayar temple are located at Veerapandi Village, situated on the banks of Mullai River. In ancient times the place was called as "Alandu" and since the temple was found by the king "Veera Pandia", later on called as Veerapandi Village. The festival is being celebrated for eight days during the Tamil month "Chitrai" every year in a grand manner.The deity is famous forwarding off ailments of eye diseases, measles and other infection diseases. The temple is 200 years old.
